REBECa

REBECa - Renewable Energy in the transport sector using Biofuels as Energy Carriers

The project is funded by the Strategic Research Council. Program Committee for Energy and Environment in Denmark.

ENEA

Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and the Environment

ENEA is a public agency operating in the fields of energy, the environment and new technologies to support Country's competitiveness and sustainable development.
The Agency's activities are carried out in the following four areas:
    * Clean Energy
    * Technologies for the Territory
    * Technologies for the Future
    * Advanced Tecnology Applications.

Furthemore it has been attributed important functions for the Country by an ad hoc law or thanks to its scientific and technical leadership.


CEESA

Et dansk energiforskningsprojekt financieret af DSF og løbende fra januar 2007 til december 2010.
"CEESA integrates existing energy and environmental analysis tools in a unique way. Through a combination of life cycle assessment and energy system and market analysis methodologies, the project is able to meet three of the major challenges of future sustainable energy systems:

   1. how to integrate the transport sector,
   2. how to develop future power systems suitable for the integration of distributed renewable energy sources, and
   3. how to develop public regulation in an international market environment.

The aim is to achieve a 100% renewable energy system. The project identifies which ways to follow in order to achieve this goal."


Nordisk Energiforskning

"Norden skal kunne befeste og videreutvikle sin posisjon som ledende kunnskapsregion for nye og miljøvennlige energiløsninger og effektive og velfungerende energimarkeder.
Målet for Nordisk Energiforskning er, gjennom sin medvirkning, å maksimere resultatene av energirelatert forskning og utvikling i Norden og nærområdene."


AirGIS

Modelsystem udviklet på Danmarks Miljø Undersøgelser (DMU) til bestemmelse af bl.a. trafikforurening.
 
"A GIS-based modelling system for estimation of traffic-related air quality and human exposure. It was developed for application in Danish air pollution epidemiological studies, human exposure studies, as well as urban air quality assessment and management. It has been developed by the National Environmental Research Institute in Denmark."


VITO

"As independent and customer-oriented research organisation, VITO provides innovative technological solutions as well as scientifically based advice and support in order to stimulate sustainable development and reinforce the economic and social fabric of Flanders."


ACCENT

"The overall goals of ACCENT are to promote a common European strategy for research on atmospheric composition sustainability, to develop and maintain durable means of communication and collaboration within the European scientific community, to facilitate this research and to optimise the interactions with policy-makers and the general public."


AIRNET

"was funded by the European Commission Programme Quality of Life and Management of Living Resources (QoL), Key Action 4 - Environment and Health (Contract number: QLRT-2001-00441). AIRNET started on the 1st of January 2002 and has been completed by 1st of January 2005"


AIRPOLIFE

Air Pollution in a Life Time Health Perspective

"Dansk Centre of Excellence om luftforurening og helbred 2004-2008. AIRPOLIFE er et nyt Centre of Excellence (større tværgående forskergruppe) til studie og forebyggelse af helbredseffekter af luftforurening. AIRPOLIFE vil karakterisere risiko for helbredseffekter forårsaget af luftforurening set over livsforløb med fokus på at skaffe ny viden til forståelse af mekanismer, risikovurdering og forebyggelse. AIRPOLIFE skal være et af verdens allerbedste centre for forskning i helbredseffekter af luftforurening. AIRPOLIFE vil have stor international betydning for forebyggelse i relation til luftforurening."
 

IIASA

International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis

"is an international research organization. It conducts inter-disciplinary scientific studies on environmental, economic, technological, and social issues in the context of human dimensions of global change."

BONUS

BALTIC SEA RESEARCH FUNDING COLLABORATION

"is an EU 6th Framework Programme for years 2004-2007. The project brings together the key research funding organisations in all EU Member States around the Baltic Sea and Russia with the aim is to form a network and partnership of key agencies funding research with the aim to deepen the understanding of conditions for science-based management of environmental issues in the Baltic Sea. BONUS operates in close connection with the scientific and management actors."


EU Projects to improve Public Health knowledge on extreme weather/heat waves: risks and responses

En liste over EU projecter om sundheds omkostninger ved ekstreme vejrforhold. Der fokuseres på det seneste årti's hedebølger. Siden ligger på Europa Commisionens websted, som også har anden information om strategier for og projekter om folkesundhed i Europa og i de Europæiske lande.

European Environment and Health Strategy

"The Commission's Environment and Health Strategy acknowledges the need for closer cooperation between the health, environment and research areas.  
The European Environment and Health Strategy was jointly published by the Directorates-General of Environment, Health and Research and the Joint Research Centre. It has a long-term vision seeking to address the links between poor health and environmental problems, and to "reduce diseases linked to environmental factors".
It builds upon the aims of the Commission's Sixth Environment Action Programme. A specific target of this plan is that levels of pollution in Europe should not give rise to deleterious effects on human or environmental health."


Quantifying environmental health impacts

"The environmental burden of disease quantifies the amount of disease caused by environmental risks.
Additional information required for the rational development of policies by the health sector and activities of other sectors which directly manage or influence the determinants of health includes:

    *  the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of interventions
    * the availability of resources, and
    * the type of policy environment.

Disease burden can be expressed in Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALY), combining the burden due to death and disability in a single index. Using such an index permits the comparison of the burden due to various environmental risk factors with other risk factors or diseases."

ExternE

Externalities of Energy.

"The ExternE project, a research project of the European Commission, is the first comprehensive attempt to use a consistent 'bottom-up' methodology to evaluate the external costs associated with a range of different fuel cycles"

Et afsluttet EU projekt over fem år fra 1991 til 1997. ExternE har dannet basis for luftforurenings komponenten og sundhedmæssige kostfunktioner i CEEH. I CEEH indrager vi nyeste viden om luftforurenings skadelige virkninger og registre over befolkningen og folkesundhed. Kostfunktionerne fra de sundhedskadelige virkninger udregnes i CEEH udfra resultater fra advancerede luftforureningsmodeller og vil  blive indregnet i energimodelberegningerne.

EcoSense

er en integreret model under ExternE og har til formål:

" to provide a tool supporting a standardised calculation of fuel cycle externalities, to integrate relevant models into a single system, to provide a comprehensive set of relevant input data for the whole of Europe, to enable the transparent presentation of intermediate and final results, and to support easy modification of assumptions for sensitivity analysis."


NEEDS

New Energy Externalities Development for sustainabillity.

"The ultimate objective of the NEEDS Integrated Project is to evaluate the full costs and benefits (i.e. direct + external) of energy policies and of future energy systems, both at the level of individual countries and for the enlarged EU as a whole."

En efterfølger til ExternE. Løber over fire år fra 09/2004 frem til 09/2008. Poul Erik Gronheit fra Afdeling for System Analyse, RISØ, er med i projektet.

CAFE

Clean Air For Europe

CAFE's objectives are:

  • to develop, collect and validate scientific information on the effects of air pollution (including validation of emission inventories, air quality assessment, projections, cost-effectiveness studies and integrated assessment modelling);
  • to support the correct implementation and review the effectiveness of existing legislation and to develop new proposals as and when necessary;
  • to ensure that the requisite measures are taken at the relevant level, and to develop structural links with the relevant policy areas;
  • to develop an integrated strategy (by 2004 at the latest, see below "Related Acts") to include appropriate objectives and cost-effective measures. The objectives of the first programme phase are: particulate matter, tropospheric ozone, acidification, eutrophication and damage to cultural heritage;
  • to disseminate the information gathered during the programme among the general public.

EVA

Economic Value of Air Pollution.

"EVA er et integreret miljøøkonomisk-atmosfærisk modelsystem for beregning af sundhedsskader som følge af luftforurening. Modelsystemet udnytter eksisterende modelkompetencer ved DMU, men knytter disse til en miljøøkonomisk impact pathway kæde efter metoden i ExternE."

EVA er udviklet og i brug på Danmarks Miljø Undersøgelse (DMU), som er partner i CEEH. EVA kan mange af de ting, som er målsætningen i CEEH. En optimering af EVA ligger indenfor CEEH's arbejdsprogram. 

TIAM

TIMES Integrated Assesment model.

Er en økonomisk model for fremtidens energiformer. TIAM er en videreudvikling af energimodellen TIMES og tager højde for udledning af drivhusgasser og omkostninger forbundet med at overholde Kyoto protokollen. I CEEH vil vi gerne bruge output på global skala fra TIAM som grænsebetingelser i en mere regional energioptimering indefor CEEH. RES2020

Renewable Energy Supply. Projektet går ud på at analyser den nværende situation og frem til år 2020 med hensyn til implementering af bæredygtig energi i Europa. Dette sker på basis af TIMES energimodellen. Poul Erik Grohnheit fra Risø er deltager i projektet.

PHOENIX


Integrated Assessment of Global Warming and its Mitigation Technologies in the Changing World Economy and Industry (PHOENIX). Blev præsenteret ved IEW-2007 workshoppen af Professor Shunsuke MORI fra Tokyo University of Science. Projektet finder sted på Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth.
Projektet tager højde for en lang række eksternaliteter på global skala, bl.a påvirkning af miljøet, men har ikke særlig focus på luftforurening.


PESETA

Impacts of climate change in Europe.

"The objective of the PESETA project (Projection of Economic impacts of climate change in Sectors of the European Union based on boTtom-up Analysis) is to make a multi-sectoral assessment of the impacts of climate change in Europe for the 2011-2040 and 2071-2100 time horizons.

The value-added from the PESETA project relies on the following issues:

  • Policy-relevant time horizon: 2020s, in addition to the 2080s.
  • Use of high-resolution scenario data.
  • Consistent climatic and socio-economic framework across sectoral assessments.
  • Use of state-of-the-art climate impact modelling tools.
  • Use of a common impact metric (monetary) to aid decision-making."

NESCAUM

"Founded in 1967 to address air pollution problems from New England power plants, NESCAUM has since grown considerably in scope and mission.  New York joined NESCAUM in 1970 and New Jersey in 1979.  Today, NESCAUM addresses the entire spectrum or air quality issues:  mercury contamination, diesel exhaust, climate change, energy efficiency, cleaner cars and fuels, environmental justice, new and more effective regulatory policies, to name just a few."

NESCAUM er et fem årigt projekt der løber frem til udgangen af 2009. Har stor focus på luftforurening. Se mere luftforurening på Nescaum's side

Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (MNP)

"We provide independent integrated assessments on such topics such as sustainable development, energy and climate change, biodiversity, transport, land use and air quality.....MNP functions as an interface between science and policy. From our position at the centre of national and global knowledge networks, we supply both the Dutch government  and international organisations (e.g.  EEA, UN, OECD and the World Bank) with sound, evidence-based assessments on core issues of environmental importance.

Some questions that  MNP considers are:

  • How polluted are the Netherlands, Europe and the world, and what are the implications and prospects for people, plants and animals?  What is the fate of nature?  
  • What is the environmental role in economic and social developments, both nationally and internationally?  What does climate change mean for the Netherlands and the rest of the world?  
  • What are governments doing to protect nature and the environment?  Are they doing enough?  What does it cost?  Where can improvements be made?  How effective are they?  
  • What factors contribute to sustainable development and in what dimension (socio-cultural, ecological or economic)?"
MNP svarer lidt til et Hollandsk modstykke til Danmarks Miljø Undersøgelser. De har stor focus på luft kvalitet.

DNE21+

"The model is a world energy systems model of intertemporal optimization type, where the world energy systems cost between 2000 and 2050 is minimized. It has 77 world divided regions and the interregional transportation for natural gas, oil, coal, etc. are taken into account."

DNE21+ er en energimodel som Japanerne bruger til at forudsige verdens energi systemer.


Innovation Centre Denmark

holder til i Palo Alto. Centeret har holdt en workshop om bæredygtig energi i forbindelse med et dansk californske energisamarbejde om bæredygtig energi..
